The toddler years are a wonderful time of exploration and discovery. Every day offers new experiences and we're here to support your toddler every step of the way.
At the Y Early Learning, our toddler programs are designed to nurture your child's development with a play-based and child-led approach to learning. Our educators will guide your toddler through various exciting activities, empowering them to be curious and confident in everything they do.
Our toddler programs
Toddlers can join our long day care program, which is aligned to the Early Years Learning Framework and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF).
Our centres usually group children by age, allowing your child to explore, play and learn with other toddlers.
Our toddler rooms
In the toddler rooms, you'll find a range of colourful play spaces and learning materials tailored to your children's age. From beautifully illustrated books and counting blocks, to organic natural objects and treasures that spark curiosity.
Toddlers can freely explore and learn, with opportunities to engage in sensory play, build independence and develop self-help skills as they get ready for the next step of kindergarten.
Our rooms open out to beautiful outdoor spaces that children can enjoy all year round. Some centres offer dedicated outdoor areas for kindergarten or other age groups, along with family rooms where children of all ages can gather at the start and end of each day.
A typical day at our toddler programs
Throughout the day, your toddler can join group activities and build their self-help skills in a fun, supportive environment.
They can get creative with art, discover nature and sustainability, practise problem-solving and building, or develop musical skills through singing and dancing.
Our outdoor areas offer plenty of opportunities for exploration, risky play and self-directed activities, allowing your child to build on their interests.
Meals are served during flexible time windows, so your child can eat when it suits them. We typically provide breakfast from centre opening until 8:30am, morning and afternoon tea, and late snacks during family grouping times.
Your child will also have the chance to rest and sleep whenever they need to.
Orientation
Starting care for your toddler can feel daunting, which is why we have an orientation period to make the transition as smooth as possible. Through short visits, your toddler can explore our indoor and outdoor spaces, meet our friendly educators and other children, and try out fun activities.
Parents and guardians are required to stay on-site during these visits. Our educators will chat with you about your child’s routines, interests and learning goals, so we can provide care that suits your family. Think of us as your parenting partner!
After orientation, most toddlers settle in quickly and love exploring and discovering with us.
