The first 18 months of life are a precious and formative time, full of new experiences. We understand how important it is to have your child in trusted, caring hands as they begin to explore the world around them.

At the Y Early Learning, our nursery rooms provide a safe, nurturing environment where your child can thrive. Our educators truly care about your child and are highly experienced in supporting their early development and ensuring they're happy and healthy.

Our nursery programs

Babies can join our long day care program from six weeks of age.

Our centres usually group children by age, so your child can socialise with other little ones during their time with us. Your child will also interact with our caring and professional educators, who will actively supervise and play alongside them.

Our programs are aligned to the Early Years Learning Framework and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF).

Our nursery rooms

Our nursery rooms are thoughtfully designed to provide a warm, nurturing environment where your baby feels safe, secure and comfortable during play and rest.

In these rooms, our educators focus on establishing routines, building strong bonds and fostering respectful relationships with children and families, while encouraging children to explore and play at their own pace.

Many of our centres also have separate sleep areas, where we follow safe sleep procedures.

Our rooms open out to beautiful outdoor spaces that children can enjoy all year round. Some centres offer dedicated outdoor areas for kindergarten or other age groups, along with family rooms where children of all ages can gather at the start and end of each day.

A typical day at nursery

Our nursery and baby rooms focus on supporting each individual child’s routine. We know every child is at a different stage and has different needs, so we keep our days flexible.

We design daily activities and provide intentional teaching to support your child reaching their developmental milestones. Throughout the day, your child can enjoy activities such as music, movement, water play, sensory play and small-group reading. Our play-based learning approach allows children to learn through sensory play while stimulating their senses of touch, smell, taste, hearing, and sight.

Sleep and feeding times are tailored to each child, with younger children having multiple sleeps and bottles as required. Our educators also support important milestones like crawling, walking and standing.

We want every child to feel a sense of belonging at nursery, so that they build the confidence needed to become a curious learner.

Orientation

We know it can be daunting sending your baby to care for the first time. It's a big step for your family with lots to consider.

Our orientation period is designed to make the process as stress-free as possible. Through a series of short visits, your baby will be able to spend time in our nursery rooms and meet our educators and children.

Parents and guardians are required to stay on-site during these visits. Our educators will speak with you about your child's routines, interests and learning goals so that we can support them in a way that suits your family. Think of us as your parenting partner!

After the orientation period, we'll continue to support you with regular updates about your child's health, development, strengths and interests.
