Explore our Derrimut centre

At our Derrimut centre, we provide high-quality early education and care in a nurturing and welcoming environment.

We’re located in the Derrimut Community Centre, which also provides maternal and child health services and is next door to Derrimut Primary School. Parks, other schools, and Deer Park train station are also nearby.

Our centre has dedicated spaces for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) as well as music and language programs. We have large outdoor spaces and a vegetable garden for children to explore and learn about sustainability.

As a community-focused, not-for-profit centre, we love getting to know all our families and pride ourselves on the relationships we develop. We know that by working together, we can help your child thrive.

Meet our Centre Manager

Kranthi Kummera

Kranthi has worked in early childhood education for 15 years. She believes in providing children with the best care in all aspects of their lives, and that everyone deserves the chance to belong and reach their greatest potential.

Kranthi and her team give children opportunities to have as much fun as they can while getting them involved in things they might never have thought possible. From learning a new word to making sense of the world around them, every change is monumental to a child's development.

The team at Derrimut have established a strong sense of belonging and connection with the Truganina community, and can speak both English and Hindi.

Meet our Educational Leader

Majoie Sardez

I have been working in the early childhood industry since 2018 and feel privileged to be part of a team and organisation that values efforts and supports growth and its philosophy aligning with my own. I am also a proud mum of two precious girls, one of whom attended the Y's Derrimut Early Learning Centre.

My background in sociology and law helped me realise my passion in empowering young children to speak up for their rights. Having a young family in a new place further ignited my passion as I wanted my own children to be able to stand for themselves when we are not around which led me to where I am now.

I'm committed to working alongside and supporting my team in empowering children to understand and speak up for the rights, promoting child safety and making meaningful connections to our community. Supporting the team in creating a safe, inclusive, sustainable and engaging learning environment where children can learn, play and thrive.

CCS helps eligible families access approved and registered child care providers by partially subsidising the cost of daily fees.

What our families say about us

My son has been attending YMCA ELC for 8 months. The centre has great management, caring educators, and consistently high-quality service. The orientation was challenging due to my child’s condition, but the staff were patient, dedicated, and very supportive. Tu

Thank you so much to all of the staff at Derrimut YMCA ELC for making my son and our family feel so welcome as we transition into childcare here. It has been such a positive experience from our first enquiry, to the tour, orientation and now my son about to commence officially. Sarah
